For those who know me well, one of my favorite desserts is #macarons. They are basically a light, meringue-based and almond biscuit filled with jam, cream or anything you want. I took a class where I had a chance to learn how to make them. Here are my notes on making the shell of a macaron. Good luck making them!
Ingredients:
200g of sugar + 60g of water
200g of egg whites + 100g of sugar + pinch of salt
250g of icing sugar + 250g of almond powder
Steps:
1) Boil the sugar and water until 115 degrees.
2) Whip the egg whites and sugar until medium consistency by gradually increasing the speed.
3) Slowly add the sugar water into the egg whites and sugar until the meringue is glossy.
4) Mix this meringue into the icing sugar and almond powder mix until the consistency is thick.
5) Pip and bake at 290 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes.
